Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar storage technologies InterviewClip uses, and how you can control them.

Last updated: September 2, 2026

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. “Local storage” is a related browser technology that keeps small values on your device. Both let a site remember information between page loads. Some are strictly necessary for the service to work; others are optional, and you can switch those off.

Analytics and marketing

Beyond the strictly necessary cookies, we use two optional categories:

  • Analytics helps us understand how the site is used, which pages people read and where they lose interest, so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4 for this.
  • Marketing lets us measure whether our advertising works and reach people who may find InterviewClip useful. We use the Meta Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag for this.

Both of these categories are on by default. When you open the site, Google Analytics 4, the Meta Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag load and the optional cookies listed below are set. We do not ask you first.

You can turn either category off at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. We remember that choice in this browser: on every later page the tags for a category you switched off are not loaded, no request is made to that vendor, and the cookies we set for it are deleted. Turning off one category leaves the other working.

Each provider describes its own use of the data it collects: Google, Meta and LinkedIn.

Cookies we use

This is the full list. The optional rows are set unless you have switched their category off, and are deleted if you switch it off later.

Name Category Purpose Retention
Session cookie Strictly necessary Keeps you signed in to the InterviewClip application (app.interviewclip.com). HTTP-only. Until you sign out or the session expires
CSRF token Strictly necessary Protects signed-in requests against cross-site request forgery. Until you sign out or the session expires
ic_consent_v1 Strictly necessary (local storage) Remembers your cookie choices on this site, so we can apply them. Until you clear it (local storage does not expire on its own)
ic_consent_sig Strictly necessary Records your cookie choices so they can be applied on both interviewclip.com and the application at app.interviewclip.com. Written only once you make a choice, and holds nothing but that choice. 1 year
_ga Analytics (Google) Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. 2 years
_ga_<measurement id> Analytics (Google) Keeps track of the current visit for Google Analytics 4. 2 years
_fbp Marketing (Meta) Identifies a browser so Meta can measure and target our advertising. 90 days
_fbc Marketing (Meta) Stores the click identifier from a Meta ad, so a later sign-up can be attributed to that ad. 90 days
LinkedIn Insight Tag cookies (bcookie, bscookie, lidc, li_sugr, li_gc, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory) Marketing (LinkedIn) Identify a browser and sync advertising identifiers so LinkedIn can measure our advertising. Set on LinkedIn’s own domains (linkedin.com, licdn.com), not on ours. 1 day to 2 years depending on the cookie, per LinkedIn’s cookie table

The Google and Meta cookies above are first-party: the vendor’s script sets them on interviewclip.com, which is why we are able to delete them if you switch their category off. LinkedIn’s cookies are set on LinkedIn’s own domains, which our site cannot reach.

When you create an account, we also send Meta a record of that signup from our own server rather than from your browser. It includes the Meta click identifiers held in the _fbc and _fbp cookies above, your IP address and browser user agent, and an irreversible hashed form of the email address you registered with. The hash lets Meta match the signup to an account it already holds. It does not disclose your address to anyone who does not already have it. We do this to measure which advertising leads to real signups. If you switch Marketing off, we do not send it.

We self-host the Inter and Mona Sans web fonts on our own servers, so rendering the site sends no request to a third-party font service and sets no font cookies.

How to control cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are required to sign in and use the application, so they cannot be turned off without breaking the service.

For the two optional categories, use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. It opens a panel showing your current choices and lets you change or withdraw them at any time. It is always there, on every page, and it is the only place you need.

When you withdraw consent for a category, we delete the cookies we set for it: _ga and _ga_<measurement id> for analytics, _fbp and _fbc for marketing. Two limits are worth stating plainly. A vendor script that has already loaded during the current page view keeps running until you navigate, and LinkedIn’s cookies live on LinkedIn’s domains where our site cannot delete them, so clear those through your browser settings or your LinkedIn account.

You can also clear or block cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. See your browser’s help pages for instructions.
