How InterviewClip uses AI

AI in InterviewClip is an assistant, never a judge. This article explains exactly what each AI feature reads, what candidates are told, and where the decisions stay human.

Several features use AI, and each is switched on by your plan: interview summaries, CV data extraction, bulk CV fill, and candidate matching. AI is always an assistant here. Every output is advisory, and your reviewers make the decisions.

What the AI processes

Answers are transcribed to text by our video platform's speech recognition. The AI features read text: interview summaries read the transcript of what the candidate said, CV extraction reads the text of an uploaded CV, and candidate matching sees each candidate's skills, title, and years of experience, never their name or contact details. There is no face analysis, and a candidate's voice is never used to identify them.

What candidates are told

Before recording, every candidate sees a consent step that names the recording, the transcription, and the possible use of AI tools on what they said, and states that people, not AI, make the hiring decisions. A candidate who does not consent cannot record.

Deletion

Deleting a candidate removes their videos, transcripts, and AI summaries immediately, including off-site backups. See the candidate activity and deletion article for details.

Your responsibilities

Laws on AI in hiring vary by place, such as the EU AI Act and several US state and city rules. Using AI features on candidates in those places can carry disclosure or other duties for your organization. InterviewClip provides the notices and safeguards described above, but staying compliant with local hiring rules remains your organization's responsibility. This article is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does InterviewClip use AI to identify candidates?

No. There is no biometric identification: no face analysis, and a candidate's voice is never used to identify them. The AI features read text, such as transcripts and CV text.

Do candidates know AI may be used?

Yes. Before recording, every candidate sees a consent step that names the recording, the transcription, and the possible use of AI tools on what they said. A candidate who does not consent cannot record.

Can AI reject a candidate automatically?

No. Every AI output is advisory. Match scores never block invitations or reviews, and people, not AI, make the hiring decisions.
