Candidate experience

What candidates experience

Wondering what your candidates will actually see? This walkthrough follows a candidate from clicking their link to the confirmation email, on a laptop or a phone.

Candidates never create an account. They click their secure link and are guided step by step, on a laptop or a phone.

Before recording

They see a device check with a live microphone level meter, then a practice question that is never uploaded so they can get comfortable first, and then a short consent step explaining what happens to their video, including transcription and any AI-assisted review of what they said, shown before the first real recording. If the link was opened inside another app's built-in browser, which often cannot record video, the candidate is prompted to copy the link and open it in their own browser first (they can also continue anyway).

While recording

Each question shows any preparation time first, then a countdown while they record. On a phone, candidates are asked to hold the phone upright (portrait); recording will not start while the phone is held sideways. Depending on the job's retake policy, they may be able to re-record an answer. They can review their answers before submitting, and they see how much time and how many questions remain.

Returning later

If they step away, their link brings them back to where they left off. Once they finish, they get a confirmation email. Their progress is saved throughout, so a dropped connection never loses their work.

Want to see it for yourself? Open a job and choose Preview as candidate: the same flow opens in a new tab, and nothing you record there is uploaded or saved.

Frequently asked questions

Can candidates record on a phone?

Yes. Candidates record in the browser on a laptop or a phone, with no app to install and no account to create.

What happens if a candidate loses connection mid-interview?

Their progress is saved throughout, and their link brings them back to where they left off, so a dropped connection never loses their work.

Are candidates told how their video is used?

Yes. Before the first real recording, a short consent step explains what happens to their video, including transcription and any AI-assisted review of what they said.
